Can you supply us with sources of information about CIA supplying inner city gangs with drugs?

      Dear Tom,

Unfortunately, I have nothing to offer you with respect to evidence of CIA "profiting from both ends of the Drug War." In fact, I would be interested to hear anything concrete you discover in your investigations, as everything I have read so far smacks of rumor and innuendo falling far short of hard proof. Until such a day, I will remain inclined to regard this CIA-crack trade connection as yet another fatuous conspiracy theory highlighting what is worst today in America: the looking for scapegoats in improbable scenarios and blaming others for our own problems.

The exorbitant costs of drugs to our society is not the result of some shadowy CIA dealings or any other criminal plot, but the idiocy and short-sightedness of millions and millions of Americans who buy and consume illegal drugs. Such is the bed these people make for themselves, let them lie in it.

      Good luck with your investigations.

      Sincerely,

      Richard Geib
