destroying a human being? Don't try to preach that since ancient
tribes ate the flesh their defeated enemies, it is perfectly OK in
the name of religion or culture. What they are still doing today
is even more heinous because they are doing that to their defenceless
children whom they are supposed to protect from the evils of this
world, only to protect their hold on the society and to hide their
own fear of incompetence. It's a shame, we the rest of the world
do nothing to show respect to a culture. If we saw a dog biting off
it's own puppies, we would probably have it destroyed in the fear
of what it might do to others.

Dear Zia,
I completely agree with you about
that person
who wrote to me defending female circumcision; and it distresses
me even further that the man was obviously educated. I have as
of late made a study into the roots of Islam and found the effort
very much worthwhile. The fact that many invoke the name of "Islam" to
perform heinous acts reflects more on their own depravity than
on that noble religion. It goes to show how far in places Islam
has descended today from its heights during the glory of the
Abassid Empire and splendor of Cordoba in Muslim Spain. How sad.
How can one feel but "ashamed" for
the human race to read about such barbarities? I am glad to read
the tone of outrage in your voice which I fully share over this
barbaric "rite" of self-immolation.

Dear Richard:
Thank you for your reply. It does help, sharing the pain and
anguish I feel for millions of mutulated humans, specially children
who place their greatest trust in their parents for comfort and
protection and being robbed of that trust and human dignity.
I am a father of two small boys. And when I think of the horror
these parents put their own children through, to create sex slaves,
assuring the control by savage brutality, it forces me think that
they are a threat to the entire history of the human race as we
know it.
